Ok this is what I'm experiencing. Sounds like a new set of bars is in order . I went through hell on my old bike with the same problem and not going down that road again.....too painful

Be careful. That chrome collar is just cheap plastic. You need to pry it up from the tab in the bottom middle. When you go to put it back on, it is very easy to break off the tab that holds it in place.

When you rolled the stock handlebars forward did you have to remove the pin in the base plate or was there some reasonable amount of play without having to do that?

You have to remove the pin, there isn't much adjustment otherwise.

I wanted to sit more upright. It does look better too.

Maybe if it forces you to sit more upright after moving bars forward it will relieve some of the pressure on my arms and shoulders. I am good for a 100 mile ride then I've had enough

I didn't mind the stock bars but since I loved the 12" Yaffe monkey bars on my 08 SG I thought they would be just the ticket for my new RG but I was wrong. They just didn't have the same pullback and I didn't like them. I went back to my stock bars and I am happy for now. If anyone is interested in a set of black 12" monkey bars let me know. I'll make you a good deal.

Interesting. I had 10" Yaffees on my 08 SG in my signature pic and thought they were perfect too. As I said I can't say I hated the stock bars during my rental day on the RG either. Are you gonna stay stock now? Ever considered the Ness modular bars?

I plan to stick with the stock bars unless I run across a set of bars that I know I will like. I can't afford to buy another set of bars that I may not like.
