Default Front and rear brake won't disengage cruise

Hey all.
I installed a +2 soft brake pedal and went on a 1200 mile weekend road trip.
The first day was in the mountains so i did not use the cruise.
Way home I took the freeway. It was then i noticed my cruise would not shut off with either the front or rear brake. When i got home i checked if the brake light came on when they were depressed, they did.
IDK if i did something on the install
or what?. Don't remember the last time i used the cruise. Not that i have bad memory, just use it so often i don't recall how i disengaged it.

It shuts off when rolled and clutch squeezed.
Any ideas?

I don't see where installing a soft brake pedal would cause your problem.I would guess problem would be in the programming of the bikes control module since you stated the brake lights work.

I found right away with the rushmore's you need a lot of brake lever travel to disengage the cruise, so much that is causes the bike to compress the forks before cruise shuts off. I read the owner manual and saw they say to roll the grip forward to stop cruise, started doing that and works fine. Mike

Thanks rmc115. When I tried to disengage I squeezed the from brake until the bike started to slow, but the eng still maintained RPM. Then did the same for the rear. same thing.
I used to be able to squeeze or tap and it would disengage.

Both, my front brake as well as my rear brake take very little touch to disengage the cruise control.

My "Rushmore" cruise disengages just as easy as the '11 bike I had before this.
The Rushmore isn't any different in this.

If your cruise isn't disengaging at the same time your brake light trips, something is wrong.

Rolling the throttle forward is just another way to disengage cruise.
It should still disengage with either brake light or clutch lever pull.

Doesn't sound like a brake switch issue, since the problem is the same for both front and back brake.
Not sure what the issue might be, but at the first sign of a brake light, the cruise should disengage.

I had a '14 and have a '16 limiteds, exactly the same issue and nothing like my '10 and '12 limiteds. can't be a problem with both and owner manual says to roll the throttle to disengage. Mike
