Default First 500mi - Oil Change

Gents,
Seems like there is a consensus about changing the oil @ 500mi. I am going to assume that I should put straight Dino back in the crankcase for continued break-in? How about the trans and primary ?

Thanks,
Steve

Do whatever makes you feel warm and fuzzy! No such thing as a 500 service in my manuals....

Yep whatever warms your giblets...

I don't know about consensus, I did my first service at about 960 and replaced the dino stuff with Syn 3 in all three.

Nothing to be gained by changing at 500. But, if you do...make sure you change again at 1,000.

On yeah...many, many, many....threads on oil. General consensus do not put synthetic in primary. And put a transmission specific in the tranny,

I did the dino @ 100 mi and again @1,000.
It's good to know somebody else is treating their bike like a member of the family.

Did mine at a 1000 and then followed recommended schedule

500 seems early - it's your bike do want you need to do

No such thing as "consensus" when it comes to any type of oil related threads.

As mentioned, do whatever makes you feel good.

All recommended service and intervals are listed in the service manual.

SNY does not effect breakin. That has been hashed out for years and proven over and over to be another Myth. Some engines come with it from the factory.
No real reason to change oil at 500 miles. Again just something that got started because it sounded like a good Idea. Just a waste of good oil.
