As long as you at least go by the recommended maintenance schedule you will be fine. If you want to change oil early go for it - not gonna hurt a thing.

Dumped all three fluids on my '15 Limited at 62 miles the day I bought it and installed a Baker Attitude Adjuster in the primary while I was at it.

Went back with H-D dino in the motor and Redline in the Primary and Tranny. Repeated at 1000 miles and I've changed the engine oil & filter every 2500-3000 miles thereafter (stickin' with the H-D dino oil, for now).

Switched over to Formula+ in the primary at the 5000 mile service. Seems slightly quieter, but otherwise no noticeable differences.

Couldn't be happier with this combo.

I did my first service at 5000 miles. Yes, five thousand! And, I don't save any receipts. The world didn't end.
Bike now has 15,000 mi with no issues.

I've done all my own periodic maintenance for many years. Never had a dealer ask for proof of service when the bike was in for warranty work.

As many always state... Whatever floats your boat.

My personal favorite fantasy... "It's cheap insurance"

Your bike, your decision.

I never change it. Just top it off.

300,000 miles doing it that way.

Yes there is. The consensus is to argue to infinity the unimportant, until someone posts the "Headache Guy", or the Icon with the little guy repeatedly whacking the cartoon horse with a stick.

There is also a consensus when the guy with the nice bouncy ***** for his heading pipes up!
I was going to change at 1000 miles as per spec. I'm at 500 now. I'm just finding that the trip I had planne for the end of the month is getting pushed up to next sat and no good riding weather until then. I'll be doing it early as I don't want to have it done on the road! I'll be going synth.

Yeah, whatever floats your boat. Even though it is not necessary, do it anyways. The 500-600 mile oil change is usually done with other brands since it is at 1000km or 620 miles.

I don't know about consensus, I did my first service at about 960 and replaced the dino stuff with Syn 3 in all three.
Not supposed to put Syn3 in primary
