Making engines last longer
A while back I saw a bolt on kit that claimed to make engines run cleaner, I believe by dumping crankcase vapor into the atmosphere rather than into the breather. The pictures used showed 2 engines, one with the kit and one with the kit and one without. Obviously the one with this add on was much cleaner internally. Has anyone else seen this? Anyone know what it's called? I'm doing some tuning on a friends bike and he asked about it. I'm not much on after market stuff but I enjoy learning and customizing other people's stuff. Thanks in advance y'all!

Don't know about the "make your engine last longer" claim, ask me in a 100,000 miles! But I like the idea of not sucking "dirty" air into the intake. I have the DK Customs kit on my bike. And yes, it is good quality and very reasonable. Only complaint is, even with the optional filter on the end of the vent hose, you will see a drop or two of oil under the bike from time-to-time. All that oil vapor has to go somewhere. I eventually got rid of the vapor filter on the end of the hose. One less maintenance item to have to clean. Now I just take a shop towel and wipe up the drop when necessary. There are also claims of HP and TQ increases, although very small. None that you would feel in the seat-of-the-pants but may see on a dyno.

I disagree about it wont make your engine last longer. Common sense tells me that if i am clean filtered air in the intake as apposed to dirty oily reused air, there is going to be a benefit. I have worked on many engines over the years but i am not an expert by any means. We race circle track when you go a season with all the wear and tear of a race motor and then tear it down and it clean inside i have to believe that dumping that spent air and oil particles out of the engine works. Tear down a regular street car with the crankcase bypass in tact it will have up to 3 or 4 mm of hard carbon on the piston. The first thing i did was disable the blow by and route directly to ground. I just serviced the filter and the intake looks like the day it left the factory, that wont happen when your shoving blow by directly in there. It's all emissions garbage mandated by the gov. just mho
