Default Seat has damaged paint on rear fender

I installed tour pac delete kit over winter and bought a Badlander seat to use when removed. While cleaning grime from under seat area this week I found factory seat has worn a spot the size of your thumb nail off rear fender. Its a 2104 Limited with 10,000 miles. Is there any point in contacting my dealer? There are difficult to deal with at the best of times.

Thanks for your input.

It's so common I doubt they will do anything about it. Why HD after all these years does not add some of that clear 3M tape stuff around the seat area to protect the fender I'll never know.

Just the same, yeah, see if your dealer will do anything. Get back to us...

Its very, very common and I agree I doubt the dealer will do anything. Some of the softails actually come with the clear protective film on the rear fenders, I know my wifes 2008 Deluxe had it when she got the bike and I have seen several customers come in with it on their softails, not sure why Harley don't use it on the touring bikes.

Back to the paint scuff, usually around the gas tank where the seat sits against it we see that a lot and also on the top of the side covers but this isn't just a Harley problem we see it on metric bikes also.

I used to put a piece of cheese cloth doubled over under the tail of the badlander and that was just enough to lift the seat free of the paint. Gluing on some black felt from the local fabric store would be an even better way.

Nothing you can do about it. If you have a seat touching the paint, it's going to get marked up. The touring pillion on my SGS leaves slight marks on the rear fender.

Put the touring seat and tourpak back on.

Problem solved.

i use a suction cup pillion pad on my ultra. Its not a seat, its just a piece of foam, with hard plastic underneath and suction cups
