My softail the previous owner put 3M tape on it. Worked pretty well, but the seat was working it's way through the tape as well. I haven't bothered with the SGS. Agree with others, not much will get done so if I were you I wouldn't even bother with it. It will just come back again, and again...

I have a similar issue with the removable tour pak. I just use a piece of black duct tape on the fender when I have the offending seat on the bike. When switching, I just peal off the tape. I figure a $5 roll should last a few years.

The CVO seats are two piece and you are supposed to put these pads on the fender, it keeps the seat from sliding around and touching the paint. I use them. pt# 11100024

I had those on my CVO and still used electric tape around the edges of the seat... For the Limited I doubt I'll bother. I don't plan on taking the tourpak off, but I did put some 3M tape on the tank just in case I put on a different seat with a different contour. I should put some on the side covers too since the OL has a habit of squeezing her legs in to help her hold on when I get on the throttle. Her boots can leave some nasty scuffs for me to buff out, lol.
