Question Front Engine Motor Mount

I've searched through the Rushmore forum threads and can't find any posts related to motor mounts for a 2014 or newer Rushmore bikes. I've got a 2014 Street Glide FLHXS. Looking at the user guide (see below) there are two front engine mounts vs. one for 2013 or older.

I have just under 40,000 miles and have been getting excessive vibration lately that all the signs seem to lead to new front engine motor mount is the solution.

First question is, what is the life expectancy of the stock front motor mount?
Second question is does anyone have a recommendation of where to get them from other than the Harley stealer? I've found many online but they are all for the 2013 or older.

Yeah, I can't find them anywhere either. Had to replace mine on my '07 around 40K but can't find any online to fit the Rushmore bikes. You can go to http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche....artsfinder.htm and get them for pretty reasonable. Hope this helps.

Check your torque on the mount fasteners bolts which are #4 on your parts diagram.I have not heard anything on this forum about engine mounts needing replaced on a Rushmore bike.If you want to try a mount,go with the OEM from Moco, its not worth being the test mule for a after market mount.

Have you checked your crank shaft runout? I've seen several threads in the past that describe "scissored" crankshafts that caused increased vibrations on pre-Rushmore bikes.

When I bought my '15 Limited, the sales guy told me that the MOCO has tightened the tolerances on the Rushmore cranks to eliminate the problem, but who knows?

Haven't seen anything about motor mounts failing on the Rushmores - so far.

Check the torque on items 1 and 6 in your parts breakdown drawing. These items are scheduled torque check items per the service manual. I have found item 6 not at the correct torque twice on my 14 Limited.

That looks like the direction I will go. No aftermarket and really don't want to be a new product beta tester. Thanks for the link. Been there before, couldn't remember where it was at.

I will check the torque, with 40k miles I hadn't thought of checking that since I assumed the mount was just worn out, but the fact that I can't find anything about mounts wearing our on the Rushmores and there are quite a few other riders with many more miles than I have, I assume they should be able to last quite a long time. Unlike the pre-2013 that had only 1 front mount, we have two so it should help it last that much longer. I also agree I don't want to be a "test mule" for an aftermarket mount. OEM from the Moco is good for me. Thanks much.

I think the torque must be the problem after my research and this posting since the mounts still look fine to me and noone else seems to have a worn out mount. Torque check today it is. Thanks much.

I'm doing my 10k maintenance on my 14 , they should be checked at 10K intervals

Front right engine mount end cap screws 42 -48 ft lbs

Engine mount to front crankcase screws 36 - 40 ft lbs

It says to check using the min torque value , if the fastener does not rotate torque has been maintained. no further attention is needed.

If the fastener moves clean all locking material from the threaded hole / replace or clean the bolt reapply fastening material ( loctite) and torque.

2014 Touring Front Engine Mount
Here's a pic of the 2011

I don't think I understand the part about 2013 and earlier only having one motor mount. My 2011 RK has two. The part number for the rubber motor mounts is the same for 2011 and 2014:

8 16207-09 ENGINE MOUNT, FRONT 2 38.49 33.99
8 16207-09 ENGINE MOUNT, FRONT 2 38.49 33.99

$61.00 for both of them here:

All of that said, I'd do as suggested and check the fastener torque first.
