Is there a recommended interval or some type of test to determine when one would replace the front motor mounts? I'm trying to track down what seems to be excessive vibration (seems to increase with speed). I have 82,000 miles on my 2011 Ultra and I'm wondering if the motor mounts may need to be replaced.

Possibly the mounts, or it could be a "scissored" crankshaft.

I'm coming up on 90k miles on my '14 SGS, and have not had engine mount problem.

I have had bolts get loose that screw into front head, to hold the stablizer link bracket.

Your image doesn't show it. I have attached another image, and circled the bolts, #3, in red.

I just had the front motor mounts replaced on my 2015 Ultra limited at 14000 miles due to a small bolt working lose from the left heat shield and becoming wedged between the engine and the frame. The dealership had to order the mounts and told me the bike was safe to ride with the blown mounts after they removed the wayward bolt. Vibration went away once the bolt was removed and I rode it that way for a couple days until the mounts came in. They replaced the mounts today and gave the old mounts. They don't look like they needed to be replaced to me, but I'm going to show them to a few bike mechanics for their opinion. BTW the mounts were NOT covered by warranty because the suspect heat shield has a couple light switches I had installed and the dealership said I left the bolts lose.

Not sure where you heard about the change in motor mounts, the 09 through 16 are identical. 08 and older did not have the upper mount on the head. I've got 116,000 on the original mounts on my 09. Same part number.

08 most definitely has the upper mount in the head. No question about it.

hmmm, 09 with the new frame is when they added the additional mounting point, that wasn't the upper mount on the head?

They did it in 08 when they introduced the 6 gallon tank. It's not an additional mount point. They moved the mount from center heads to the front because of the shape of the new tank.

No it was the 2 lower front mounts. 08 and earlier had 1 front rubber mount, it was centered and it was oriented 90 degrees to the 09 up dual front rubber mounts. So they added 1 rubber mount. 2008 had the upper stabilizer that mounted to the front cylinder head.

QTR,
Thanks for clarifying! I learned something new. Still no motor mount changes from 09 to 16
