I have fully removed my fuel tank without ever removing the console five times. You just unplug the wires at the battery tray.

The lower the amount of fuel in the tank, the easier it is to R&R.

All done. The whole job, including oil change, took less than 3 hours.
As for the gas tank; 4 bolts, one plug and disconnecting the vent line. 5 minutes like you all said.
