I don't want to provide you with misinformation, but I believe most Mustang 1-piece seats (seats for both rider + passenger) have the cutout that works with the standard HD backrest. Although the HD and Mustang rider backrests are designed differently, I believe both mount to the fender/frame the same way (using a 3-bolt bracket).

So you can use an HD backrest on a Mustang seat and a Mustang backrest on an HD seat.

I have owned Saddlemen "Road Sofas" and I can tell you that their seats DO NOT work with the HD or Mustang rider backrests. Unless they've changed the design, the Road Sofa has the rider backrest mount built right into the seat structure itself.

Other brands, I can't say...
(others please correct me if the above info is wrong)

Day-long. I had them build my seat and leave the slot for the back rest.

I believe Mustang's will work, except for the ones with the backrest support built into the seat, such as the Summit

I believe Corbon will also leave the hole for the backrest.

Cool, this makes sense. Thanks! Got a Corbin on my 883R; love it but thinking about a different brand for the SG. I may even look at a CVO leather seat.

I just did the reverse. I used the Mustang back rest on My stock seat. Fit great!
