Recall has nothing to with the clutch basket, it's in the master cylinder. Air in the system will not make a clutch slip. I installed an Rekluse auto clutch and love it.(and now it can be adjusted although shouldn't need to be). My bike is having the recall done Thursday.
Air in the clutch master/slave cylinder or line will not cause the clutch to slip. It will make it more difficult to disengage the plates, so it would be harder to shift. But once the clutch lever is disengaged, the spring on the clutch pack will cause full force on the plates again. If you are having clutch slippage, then it is an issue with the clutch plates or spring.
Now that I think about it, you are correct. That was the reason for the recall because a reaction was causing gas in the line and the clutch not releasing.
Not sure what happened but the clutch is working exactly like it did pre-recall and is not slipping any longer. It will be back at the dealer promptly if it happens again. I just hate those clowns touching my bike.
So you bleed the clutch right? Did you get any air/bubbles out?
What primary fluid are you running?
Using HD Trans and Primary Fluid. Don't see a need to run synthetic. The fluid is brand new as I just had the outer primary powder coated and reinstalled.
Did see air bubbles at the trans bleed screw. Using another method I saw on YouTube, I saw bubbles in the master cylinder.
