Default FLHXS accessory switch

Hoping you guys can chime in on this one. I was at the 3 local dealers this weekend and they all said something different. I am trying to wire one accessory switch to a Halo on my headlight. I would like to use an accessory switch to run it independently of the headlight. 2 of the 3 dealers said I need to buy the $119 dollar assembly. One said that the middle switch although capped is prewired to the accessory hook up under the seat and that all I would need to purchase is the button. It was $24 bucks for that. Has anyone else gone through this? Once I have that switch figured out and if it does power the adapter under the seat I will have to run a wire back up to the fairing. Ill probably just tap into one of the hot leads if that is the case. Whatcha think?

I actually just installed switch and put a garage door opener under batwing. I built short harness to plug in between switch and factory wire harness so I could break out my 12v circuit in the fairing instead of running wire up from under seat. Just need Molex MX150 6 plug male and female to build harness. I have part numbers and all details listed here http://www.shawnharrington.com/?p=66 - pm me if you need any help or more information

I bought the $119.00 switch kit...I have intentions of doing some accent lighting and heated gear, for those cooler South Texas evenings, anyway....the stock blank switch panel is wired, meaning there is a plug connected to the backside of the dummy switch panel, no idea how a 24.00 dollar plug with connect to it. With the kit I did get an external harness that plugs into the factory harness that gives you a lead for external additions, there is also a factory plug but I am unsure what was designed to connect to it. But there is a set of unused wires that would work for wiring your lights.

Get the switch. It is pre-wired to the 8 wire connector under the left side cover. Connector has a plug in it. You don't need the Harley wire, just tap into the wire you need down there. The service manual shows the wire colors for the switches they connect to....they are laid out in the electrical diagram in the order of the switches they represent left to right. Lots of information in this thread.

I am hoping to use the switch for some accent lights. Anyone have any pictures of where the connector is located?

Very Nice. If I didn't already have the spare I would definitely go that route.

The wiring is under the ignition cap already. You can purchase just the switchpack or a kit that comes with the pigtail that plugs into the 8 pin molex connector under the left side cover.

The switches are rated at 2amps. If what you are running requires more, buy the kit and a relay to run the item.

I have a limited, so I already had a switchpack. I added another button to mine to energize interior lights on the tourpack and saddlebags. I also bought just the connector with terminal ends to plug into the 8 pin molex. Total cost was $16.00 if I remember correctly
