That is a good term for my thoughts.
Unnecessary IMHO, and the way it works, you waste an extra quart or two of oil to "flush" 6 or 8 ounces. I understand fluid dynamics, and how viscosity affects them, you are getting laminar flow using this system, and not effectively and efficiently flushing anything.
You aren't hurting a thing by using it.... except your wallet

I don't own a oil company either ( just going to be **** about the oil change) but my mother does own some oil wells. LOL

Good for you changing the fluids yourself. I am at 19k on my 15 Roadglide and have done all my own changes. I have bought and used the Scavenger system and was very happy with the results. Yes, you waste a quart. I buy Mobile 1 V Twin at Walmart for 10 bucks a quart so the money does not seem excessive to me especially when you factor the savings of doing it yourself. Be careful not to overtighten the sump plug.
