That is a good term for my thoughts.

Unnecessary IMHO, and the way it works, you waste an extra quart or two of oil to "flush" 6 or 8 ounces. I understand fluid dynamics, and how viscosity affects them, you are getting laminar flow using this system, and not effectively and efficiently flushing anything.

You aren't hurting a thing by using it.... except your wallet

I had never heard of the scavanger before. I just checked out the website. I guess if my oil looked like the stuff they show on their video I'd be trying to get every last drop of it out too!

An extra quart will give you the extra you need for 5 changes, plus 2 ounces.

I'll keep my mouth shut on the scavenger system... I only wish I owned an oil company and invented it.
I don't own a oil company either ( just going to be **** about the oil change) but my mother does own some oil wells. LOL

Good for you changing the fluids yourself. I am at 19k on my 15 Roadglide and have done all my own changes. I have bought and used the Scavenger system and was very happy with the results. Yes, you waste a quart. I buy Mobile 1 V Twin at Walmart for 10 bucks a quart so the money does not seem excessive to me especially when you factor the savings of doing it yourself. Be careful not to overtighten the sump plug.
