Default Ultra tail light with bottom window

Does anyone know who makes an LED tail light with bottom illumination for the license plate that fits an Ultra? I've been using the one from Drag Specialties and it seems to have an issue with the little white LEDs that light the plate. They work for a few months then start flickering and eventually stop working.

Otherwise it's a nice tail light with bright red LEDs.

I've had it replaced once and the same thing has happened on the second one. Only 2 out of 6 are still working. I thought it might have been a lemon the first time but apparently is a flaw in the design. It was replaced under warranty but I don't want to keep replacing it every few months.

I put led license plate lights from autozone on the plate. They work great and would be cheaper than a replacement taillight.

I have a bike that uses an led frame - works good.

I have also used the Drag Specialties layback lens ($29) with bottom window, and an led replacement 1157 bulb ($10).

Thanks, I haven't thought of that.

This has got my attention! I like the idea of the tail light and the tag light using light from the same bulb. Do you have part numbers for the lens and the bulb by chance?

Odd, first place I looked when I saw the first post was BAL's website. I found BAL's with license plate windows, but didn't find any that were down. All I saw were up.

So, the one I've been using has an LED board in a sealed unit that sells for $99. The new one is $24 and not sealed. It uses an LED bulb which is cheaper and easy to replace. I should've gone this route from the beginning.

Here are the parts which I'll have in a couple of days.

DS Red Laydown Lens with bottom window (2010-0783) $24

Kury LED bulb (4816) $11.69

I also ordered an LED bulb from SuperBrightLeds (1157-R19W6) $12.99. I'm anxious to see how the bulbs compare.

This is really similar to what I was talking about a couple posts back, but those bulbs arent the one you need. I've tried them, they're very directional and hard to see unless you're looking straight on from the back. There's another bulb out there, can't think of the brand name right now, but it also has an additional couple rows of led going around the circumference. It does a much better job getting refelctive light off the inside of the taillight housing for omnidirectional visibility, and also will do a better job of lighting up your tag.
