Default Hammock seat 52000177 or Mean City Cycle mod?

I have a 2014 FLHTK and I am looking to upgrade my seat for more comfort. I am looking at the new heated hammock seat (52000177) for the 2014's and newer bikes.

Of concern to me is does the new seat sit you further back from the handlebars than the stock seat. I can afford to go up and inch, but not back due to shoulder problems and reach issues. I see lots of reports about the older seats sitting you back further, but not really anything I can find regarding the new seats.

Can someone who owns one of these new seats for the 2014's and newer (52000176 or 177) tell me authoritatively if the hammock seat sits you further back from the bars or not.

The other option I was considering is the having Mean City Cycles modify my stock seat and add heat. Curious to know if anyone has any direct experience with both the hammock seat and a double memory foam seat mod. from MCC. If so, which do you prefer?

As a bonus, I have also read that the new hammock seats both work and don't work with a hydraulic adjustable backrest. I have one of these on my bike and it would be nice to know if I can use it without modification or if I will have to replace it with a fixed mounted backrest if I go to the new hammock seat.

I would appreciate the input as I approach this decision.

Thanks!

I have a hammock on my 14 Limited. I like the seat. I also have the adjustable backrest.

The backrest will rub the front of the seat opening in its stock form. I rectified the issue by adding 1/4" bushings to the front mount brackets. I located them between the bracket and frame. That essentially tips the backrest rearward and centers the backrest opening towards the center of the seat opening. No issue so far

DSM,

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you think the Hammock seat set you further back from the handle bars than the stock seat? This is my biggest concern, where I have a bad shoulder and a reach problem to begin with.

Thanks!

I'm tall at 6'2, the Hammock gives me a little more room. I don't know that the Hammock pushes you back, as much as the stock Limited seat pushes me forward. I hope that makes sense to you.

I installed a heated Hammock on my 14 Limited and really like it. Did not notice it moving me back at all, it did move me up a bit. The seat really adds to your comfort. I included photos, one of the photos shows the stock Limited seat next to the Heated Hammock. The Hammock seat shown is the demo seat I tried out from my local HD dealer.

I've non heated Hammock with my old Mustang backrest on my 15 Limited very comfortable like the extra thigh support. You sit little higher then stock seat but haven't notice pushing me back but no more sore tail bone on 500 plus miles day rides.

You are either going to love the Hammock or hate it. I had one and I HATED it. Not trying to be a buzz kill, just letting you know. I went with a full Corbin set-up, which I will never ride anything but that.
