I have been looking for a easy fix to the adjustable back rest issue so I could get a hammock. Could you take a few pictures of how you modified the mount?
I used 1/4" bushings between the lower bracket and frame. I purchased 2 bolts that were a little longer than the stock ones to accomodate the bushings.
I circled the area where the bushings are. This is the lower bracket on the adjustable backrest.
What this does is tip the backrest back so the receiver sits centered in the slot of the Hammock Seat
I'm from the Iron butt Sportster riders genre. I have no problems at all with the stock 2015 RGS seat mile after mile. I will at some point have to buy another seat because the passenger ride is not nice for the wife.
I installed a heated Hammock on my 14 Limited and really like it. Did not notice it moving me back at all, it did move me up a bit. The seat really adds to your comfort. I included photos, one of the photos shows the stock Limited seat next to the Heated Hammock. The Hammock seat shown is the demo seat I tried out from my local HD dealer.
I had a Hammock on my 2010 and the wife hated it because it had no hammock support for the passenger. Does the new one have the hammock for the passenger?

they have several different versions of the Hammock seats. The version you had is a riders only Hammock and the passenger portion is a stock foam seat. The newer Hammocks are both rider and passenger Hammocks. The seating is different also. The riders only Hammock moves the rider back about
a inch to a inch and a half. The other Hammocks seem to sit like a stock ultra seat does. I have both and I like the riders only Hammock better myself and will buy another one if I can pick it up worth the money. It says Harley-Davidson on the sides of the seat.
I demo'd a Hammock over the last two days (about 400 miles worth). I liked that it sat me higher, and I didn't mind that it moved me back a bit. And I liked that it was firmer than the stock seat.
I've hated the seats on every Rushmore FLHTK I've ridden. The stock FLTRU seat doesn't cramp me against the tank, and I like it quite a bit. I just can't see spending $800 on a new seat when I can pay a local guy $50 to add another layer of firmer foam to the stocker.
Had a Hammock seat i believe in 2011, I loved it, till after about 1,700 mi, then it was broke down, like sitting on the seat pan. Are these newer ones better, has anyone rode one for a few mile's like a few thousand, Tnx
