Hammock seat 52000177 or Mean City Cycle mod?
#21
I bought a 14 CVO Heated Hammock take off Seat, and had it reworked by a buddy of mine.
I prefer the Mustang Rider's backrest, not as thick as the HD one, which equals into more passenger room.
Here are a few before and after pics:

Depends how fat you are. I have the 14 and up hammock seat and Im fine with it. Im not fat so I can place my *** anywhere from the front of the seat to the back of the rider seat. If your fatass is fat, then you *** will be placed it in the back cause your *** is too fat.

Thank you everyone. I pulled the trigger on a hammock seat. It did set me back a bit, so I installed Khrome Werks +2 narrow sweeper bars, which puts the bars right were they need to be with this seat.
DSM Limited, thank you for your backrest solution. It was pushing on the back of the seat, but once I installed the spacer it fits perfect. took a little bending to get it all to fit, but I am extremely happy with the end result.
Now I just have to wait for spring
Thanks again to everyone for your help and advice.

ah yes the wretched stock Harley touring seat I was in tears after 150 miles , so I took out a demo heated Hammock the built in suspension is very nice but my limited rides nice and does not need any more suspension it needs a comfortable seat and the heated hammock is not $800 worth of comfort , so sundowner heated demo I felt it was a comfortable seat and I could develop a callus for the seat but my wife hated it so I had a Corbin on my last bike now I have a heated Corbin full set up and I am never going back it is a hard seat and will take some getting used to but I have 23000 miles on my limited in the north east and many days over 500 miles , a 862 mile day and a 1032 mile day all on a corbin just my 2 cents for what it's worth
well at least of this corbin seat you speak so fondly of.......

Like someone said here earlier. The only difference is that the seat sits higher than stock. My 2015 Road King stock seat sits lower than the Hammock. I dont think it puts your further back. Depending on how much a fatass you are.

I am just sharing my experience, for whatever its worth. Now I can't wait for my first long ride

I just got the CVO version of the Hammock. If it sets me back, its not by much. It does make you feel like it sits you up higher, but I think thats just because it's wider at the tank, so your legs are further apart. It is an improvement over the stock one, but I would not say its a miracle seat either. The one area, that really surprised me in a very good way, was the heat. On high, you will be cooking! I had no idea how much I would appreciate the heated part of the seat!!

I have a 2014 FLHTK and I am looking to upgrade my seat for more comfort. I am looking at the new heated hammock seat (52000177) for the 2014's and newer bikes.
Of concern to me is does the new seat sit you further back from the handlebars than the stock seat. I can afford to go up and inch, but not back due to shoulder problems and reach issues. I see lots of reports about the older seats sitting you back further, but not really anything I can find regarding the new seats.
Can someone who owns one of these new seats for the 2014's and newer (52000176 or 177) tell me authoritatively if the hammock seat sits you further back from the bars or not.
The other option I was considering is the having Mean City Cycles modify my stock seat and add heat. Curious to know if anyone has any direct experience with both the hammock seat and a double memory foam seat mod. from MCC. If so, which do you prefer?
As a bonus, I have also read that the new hammock seats both work and don't work with a hydraulic adjustable backrest. I have one of these on my bike and it would be nice to know if I can use it without modification or if I will have to replace it with a fixed mounted backrest if I go to the new hammock seat.
I would appreciate the input as I approach this decision.
Thanks!
