Default Opening up the AC cover

I saw this on the Dyna page where someone drilled openings along the bottom of the old football shaped AC cover for better air flow. Has anyone done this on the new covers? (Did not find anything on search) I plan on putting a K&N filter on my Road King but can't see opening the backing plate to the hot engine air.

The new AC are much better than the old style. The K&N filter will work fine with it. I wouldn't drill holes in it, if anything you may ruin the intended functionality of it and any expected gains will be close to none. If you want to improve further the airflow, you are better off upgrading to a Stage 1 AC with a tune.

That is pretty much what I was thinking but you never know until you ask. K&N filter, Jackpot mufflers, and PV from my old bike should do the trick.

I have the Fuel Moto AC.The back plate has two very large holes and a larger than stock air filter.I have noticed no adverse effects from hotter air intake temperature.

The new style air cleaners are designed to ram more air in instead of the old type which had to depend on sucking the air in.I would not try to modify the design.
