Rider Backrest

Not a fan of the HD backrest. IMHO, it's big, bulky and not the easiest thing to use. On the other hand, I love the Mustang backrest. Super easy to remove, it's sleek, slim, very well made and looks cleaner. It's also adjustable, not by cable and lever however. YMMV

I have the non-adjustable, removal HD backrest. For some inexplicable reason, my wife prefers riding with it. I can take it or leave it. However, we've arrived at a compromise - if our ride is expected to exceed 2-3 hours total, I attach the backrest.
It's claimed above that the adjustable is only $50 more then the non-adjustable. This may be correct, unless you factor in installation. The non-adjustable backrest is so easy to install any jackass (a/k/a - me) can install it. I'm not saying most owners on this site are not sufficiently qualified to install the adjustable backrest, but if you're not, factor in that cost also.

Harley sells two "adjustable" Back Rests. The fancy one has a cable operated lever that allows adjustment. The one without the cable is also adjustable, but requires manually changing the mounting points and/or the Back Rest Pad itself. I have used, and presently use, the less expensive version. I love it. I can see no real advantage to the more expensive version.
