Having a backrest has prolonged my longevity in the saddle.
I have the HD, non-cable adjustable version. This backrest has been used it on my last two bikes.

 

Riders backrest has always been one of my first "add ons". Can't offer a comment about the HD ones, as I usually switch out to a Corbin seat with a riders backrest. Either way, for me, a riders backrest is a must have.

 

I have the HD non adjustable on mine. It works great for me because I like to sit bolt upright in the the saddle. I find mine to be very comfortable.

 

HD rider backrest is the best mod to my last three touring bikes.

 

I have the non-adjustable, removal HD backrest. For some inexplicable reason, my wife prefers riding with it. I can take it or leave it. However, we've arrived at a compromise - if our ride is expected to exceed 2-3 hours total, I attach the backrest.

It's claimed above that the adjustable is only $50 more then the non-adjustable. This may be correct, unless you factor in installation. The non-adjustable backrest is so easy to install any jackass (a/k/a - me) can install it. I'm not saying most owners on this site are not sufficiently qualified to install the adjustable backrest, but if you're not, factor in that cost also.

 

the Mustang is my favorite. I've had both of the HD ones.
Mustang matches the stock seat perfectly, isn't as bulky & is just as comfortable. I think it looks a lot better than the HD one.

 

Same here. Love mine, but the mrs. does not like it. So I pop it off when we ride 2-up.

 

Another vote for the cable adjustable. Took about 15 minutes longer to install than the cheaper model on the Ultra Classic. For me, it is much better due to being able to adjust while riding. On 14 to 16 hour days it pays for itself.
