Default 2014 SGS Apes Verification Please

So I know there are many threads, but before I pull the trigger, I want to verify that I would need everything to do a 12 inch Harley Davidson brand ape install.

I have read numerous threads that say I can do stock wires etc.

The dealership recommends I replace the bushings (polyurothane)as well as a heavy duty clamp by Paul Yaffee.

So bat wing ape hanger (57485-11), and then they said I need the following Hyd Clutch line (37200046), Brake line (4180041) Upper Mid ABS Brakeline (41800321), Brakeline lower (41800333), brake line, lower mid ( 41800323), wire extension kit (69200034)

Just wondering some thoughts on this, as I said to him that I don't believe I need all this stuff. In addition, they said my ABS would need recalibrated, but I thought if I just crack it a tiny bit without breaking the seal and move the wire, I should be good.

Thanks in advance, for the responses.

All you really need is the wire extension kit, which is less than $30. I put 14's on mine and just rerouted the brake and clutch lines with a little to spare. I cracked the banjo bolt to readjust the angle of the lines and have had no issues with the ABS.

There should be plenty of hydraulic clutch line and brake line, folks have put 14" apes using stock lines. Those bars come with solid bushings in the box that work very well, if you dont wan them i will take them(dibs). As far as wiring is concerned you run internal or external on these bars , I would go internal. The extension kit i would use for the wiring is only 25-30 bux from harley and it is plug and play. As far as the clamp goes , I have used these bars and currently 14" Mayhem ape hangers with no issues. I believe I would find another service shop. Better yet order the bars and a service manual from boardtrackeronline.com and save a couple hundred dollars. The hardest part to doing bars is pulling wire, take your time and you will be glad you did it yourself .

Yeah, don't do the brake or clutch lines, they are long enough. Just did mine (12" Reapers) last month and the only thing I did was buy longer wiring from Namz. Made life easier when routing through bars.
The Poly bushings I did as well, but no need for the clamp. It is one piece already on the rushmore's.
Dealer will always say you "need" things you don't.

Thanks for the replies thus far. The reason for the clamp recommendation is that he said he has seen stock clamps crack and it's not a good thing.
Som far what I am getting is get the wire extension kit, use the bushings that come with the bars.

He also told me to get the CVO throttle by wire kit as well? Instead of using the existing one??

You can, but you will have to re pin the wires as the CVO TBW has the wrong pins for the SGS. I took the plugs off of my original TBW, ran the wires through the bars and reconnected the plugs. Pretty easy and plenty of step by step directions on this forum, with pictures/videos. Also, the stock TBW is more than long enough. I had enough length to do 20's if I wanted to.

No green plug, which can get hung up if you have sharp angles on the bars.

So then its a bunch of garbage that using the existing throttle by wire wouldn't work. Something about when you take it out, no longer works right. I put new grips on the bike and pulled out and had no issues..
These particular bars don't have a sharp bend, and some even say wrapping the plug with electrician tape to protect it, you can pull it through with no issues or taking it apart.

I didn't realize the CVO version won't even fit the FLHXS without mods.

One additional note: I've done the bars on three Rushmore's: two SGS's and an Ultra Limited. I used the stock TBW on all of them. I bought the wire extensions for ease of install. The hardest part is pulling the wires through the bars, which gets easier the more times you do it.

I installed Apes on my 2010 SG. That was a PITA.
