One of these beauties would be a great run around and take me back to my youth.
Sadly these old joints couldn't stand the riding position for very long....

My third would be a K1600 BMW sport touring Only reason I do not have one now is they are not worth a dam for two and wife still likes to ride with me.

Presently my second bike is a 2014 Triumph Bonneville; no frills, just a nimble, easy to handle bike.

You're right, I miss mine too but not enough that I would want to ride it every day like the HD. The momma thing isn't a big concern for me since once or twice a season is enough for her, just not her cup of tea. The Duc was great for oil changes ... only one hole to fill instead of three. The maintenance is the only other downer, every 15k miles getting a valve adjustment (at almost a grand each time) adds up when you start racking up the miles. I also HATE the upkeep of a chain-driven bike, no matter how clean and lubed up you keep it ... you will always hear it and be cleaning lube splatters off the wheel and rear of the bike. I'm sure those Italians are smart enough they could give it shaft drive instead. I only had mine for less than a year, but it was the most fun I've had in my life.

I kept my 2010 WG last year when I got the SGS.

Dynas are a little roomer than the sportster line (at least to me) but still a great counter to the big bagger.

I bought into the purple Kool-Aid i.e. HD following years ago and have been riding a Sportster for going on 7 years now. I started hard core riding in the late 70s early 80s. I spent tons of miles on Yamaha YJ-650s and 1100s and rocked the dirt with my Honda Elsinore 500. I remember when the Kawasaki inline 6 1300cc was the baddest bike on the road. To straddle it felt like straddling a V8 back in the day. I love the look and sound of my Sportster but in every other aspect it sucks to just about any other rice burner in any element.

After many dollars spent that i wouldn't have had to on a Jap bike off the showroom floor my Sportster is a fairly comfortable ride. With all the money i have in upgrades my 80s rice burner was still faster and a better ride. Id love to have one of those BMW Adventure Sports. They ride better on and off road than any HD touring bike does yet i constantly drool after in a 800+ pound under powered road sled HD calls its ultimate touring line.

So my ultimate bike would be a HD with the power and weight of a Dyna and the ride of a RK.

For the past two years i've had cash on hand to buy any HD touring bike i want but for the life of me i simply can't write the check for a new motorcycle costing over 20k and i'm an impulse buyer.
