Default DYNO or NOT W/ SE Slips ON and Air Cleaner

Need your feedback and opinion please!
Current Setup: 2014 Street Glide Special with SE slip-ons (I have other non-engine mods).

I want to open up the air intake with a SE air cleaner. Maybe later I will decat the pipe and add a tuner. For now, with the above changes could I use a standard HD flash or do I need a dyno? I would think HD has a map for their 'add ons" but I'm being told by dealer I need a dyno.
Feedback must appreciated!

Not with just slip ons. With opening up the air cleaner you will need a tuner

Default Air cleaner and slip ons

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I have slip ons and want to add SE Air cleaner. Not interested in doing the tuner at this point. Will a generic HD map(from the dealer) be sufficient?
Thanks!

Yes but it is a waste of money since there are tuners out there around the price as the hd download

Exactly..and the HD Stage 1 tune doesn't really do much for you anyway and the cost for a flash tuner is close to the same price. You'll get a better tune with a flash tuner and when you decat your head pipe, you can retune with your tuner.

You don't "need" to do either of them. However, the bike will run cooler and stronger if you get a good tune. Your dealer is correct, an HD Flash is a waste of money. A good dyno tune will make a difference...whether your dealer will deliver a good dyno tune is the question. I see 99 poor dyno tunes for every 1 good one.

In the first post of the following link is an overview of of the popular methods used to get a better tune.

I'm not far from Austin....

If I've posted it once, I bet I've posted it 43 times...

The FIRST thing a man should do when considering making changes is GET A TUNER. It will help a stock bike, and when you change pipes and or air cleaner, you're ready for it.

Can you run without a tuner? Yes.

Will you blow your engine up running without a tuner? Probably not.

Can you expect to get 50,000 miles out of your engine without a tuner? Most likely.

Will it run correctly without a tuner? No.

Dealers and their parts and service departments are a business, in business to sell motorcycles, and motorcycle parts and accessories. They tell you that you can get away without a tuner, because a LOT of guys won't come off the jack for a tuner, and they're afraid they'll lose sales if they tell you to get a tuner.

Changing the air flow without changing the VE tables is not beneficial. These bikes run lean from the factory, adding a more free flowing exhaust makes them run more lean.

Do what you want, I won't criticize, just trying to offer things to think about.

...but there is a reason I won't buy a used bike as my primary ride...

You really don't need a stage 1 with the new air cleaners. They already flow more air than your 103 can use.

And you definitely don't need a dyno or a tuner.

If you get a dyno run, that will cost you $300 -$400 easy. And have nothing to show for it. A dealer flash is a waste of money. I'd get a PV2 from Fuelmoto for $499 and you won't have to get the dyno run cuz it will be preprogrammed with the map you need. And when you change anything in the future, it won't cost you anything then because they will send you the map for free. Spend a little extra now and you will get much more performance and save tons in the future. You'll be glad you did.

On late model bikes the Harley Stage 1 download is essentially a rev limiter change; no fuel changes, some of them have some insignificant timing changes.
