Default Has anyone tried the J&M cb upgrade

I was wondering if anyone has tried this and is it worth it. The stock cb set up sucks.

Don't understand what benefit they are claiming by only replacing the coax from behind the seat to the antenna. Looks to me like they need to replace it into the radio. As for the grounding straps you can make them for $1.00 if you wanted to. Looks to me like it is grossly overpriced. JMHO

Come visit the fellas in the audio section. They can also advise you with options. Maybe even an opinion or two based on their experience.

Range on mine and the four guys I ride with regularly is great. All of us are riding Rushmore bikes.

My 14 Limited range is pretty good. Earlier, I did have a problem in that I could barely understand what others were saying. Buddy in our HOG chapter, opened the trunk and looked at the connections. The bolt was really loose.

We tightened it - and all is well. You might want to check that out.

Dave H and Ron - if you guys are reading this, the J&M kit is exactly what you guys told me last year that the bikes needed. Sounds like you make the fix and someone has copied what you were doing. Maybe we can get together when the weather gets nice and add your fix to mine.

Glinden - where is the audio section?

For a price tag of $120, my stock setup works great.

I have had 3 pre rushmore ultras and 2 rushmore ultra's and the transmit/receive range is half of the pre 14 bikes. I am the head road captain in my HOG chapter and usually ride at the rear and use cb to communicate to other captains. On large rides, 30 plus bikes we now have to relay up to the front because the 14 and up bikes can't reach the leader while guys with the old system can. I recently switched to a old style metal antenna and worked good but winter has prevented and more testing. Mike
