Thinking Stock Exhaust, Will I Be the Only One
I have a new RGS sitting in the garage, I haven't even ridden ( dealer delivered, roads have been salted here) and I have the next couple months to fiddle with it, add some stuff learn the GPS stuff like that. Anyway on every Harley I ever had I changed the exhaust like most guys do. My last bike was a Softail Slim with V&H exhaust and if I didn't trade it in I was going to put the stock exhaust back on. Just was getting tired of the noise, maybe it's hitting the double nickels in age, I don't know. Any how this RGS seems to sound pretty good to me with it's stock pipes and I'm at least willing to give them a try. This got me wondering if any guys run stock exhaust and are happy with the way it sounds. Any thoughts?

I like the quieter stock pipes on my Ultra Limited but I didn't like that they were a little to quiet. Last week I installed a new pair of Rinehart slipons. I definitely like the traditional louder classic rumble but I am still debating. Since I am in the same boat as you (getting older) I am thinking of going back to the stock pipes. The ringing in my right ear is getting louder. Tough decision for me but will probably keep these on for a while.

I have V&H big shots on my Dyna and they have a great sound, but a little on the loud side. I don't mind the stockers on my '16 RK, but I did just put on American Custom slip ons. With the cat still in the head pipe they are nice and deep compared to the stock mufflers, but not much louder. A little more rumble comes through at highway cruise which I don't mind. Helps me get noticed just a bit more by the cars on my commute. There are baffle choices for quieting it down too that are easy to install. Much quieter than V&H, but still a nice mellow tone.
If I remove the cat they might get louder and I may have to revisit.

I'm 30 and was thinking the same thing. I had stock exhaust for maybe 1500 miles this summer. I was really enjoying it at first. Then after upgrading my stereo I was finding myself not sure what what gear I was in. That and when riding next to friends I couldn't hear my bike at all.
Upgraded to a D&D Fatcat. Much louder than I had planned, however I wouldn't trade it.
Since exhaust, intake, and power vision, it's a completely different bike. I came from a 96" softail and felt the 103" wasn't the upgrade I had expected. After the mods I couldn't be happier.
