Default Tire air pressure

It's 50* here in mid michigan so I'm getting ready to go for a ride. As i was checking the usual pre ride things i noticed that i lost quite a bit of air pressure in the tires in the month or so i haven't rode it. This is the first time the bike has had any extended time in the air off of its tires.

Is it normal to lose 13-15 psi storing a bike off of the ground?

Last year i just left it on the kick stand and hardly lost any air pressure over the extremely cold winter.

No, losing that much is not normal.

Mine never fluctuate more than 3-4 psi

Check your tires, I had the same problem, found a small finish nail in my back tire. It was so small I kept missing it. Had to install a new tire.

Hope you have better luck

When your checking for nails in tire don't forget to check the valve core for air seepage. That is the most common problem of air loss in tires.

Default Tire air pressure

It was both tires. It was an interesting ride to the gas station to fill up the tires. I think I'll be looking for an air compressor next weekend.

Tires generally lose one pound a month and one pound for every 10 degree drop in the air temperature. That would account for some of the air lose but not all. Did you use the same gauge? I always use the same quality analog round air gauge for accuracy and consistency.

Default Tire air pressure

I used the same gauge when i filed the tires up. After i got them both at 40 psi it rode like a champ.

Honestly this is only the second time I've had to put air in the tires in the 13 months I've had the bike.
