Default Exhaust

This has probably been beat to death, but if I add header and slip ons on my 2015 street glide special. Do I need tuner? I know I do if I add air cleaner.

Do you want your bike to run better?

Get the tuner first, then the rest of the pieces.

Do you need one no, is it going to hurt your bike with out probably not, would your bike run better with a tuner absolutely.

One more thing, remember the intake on the Rushmores are already larger.

Lets take the AN Big sucker, for pre 14s I think they advertised 21 percent more flow than stock, I read somewhere that the Rushmores are 15 percent more flow then the 13s and earlier so really that's a 6 percent difference.
Point being if a person would add a tuner to a 13 model with a Big Sucker why not on a 14 that's only 6 percent different.

I really would like to see someone chime in on this thought that knows the facts.

From what i understand slip ons no tune needed....add high flow air cleaner to that u need to tune due to air flow.... just slip on exhaust will not affect air flow enough to make closed loop non responsive BWDIK

Yep, it's been beaten to death. There's actually another thread on this on the first page of the Rushmore forum.

If I've posted it once, I bet I've posted it 43 times...

The FIRST thing a man should do when considering making changes is GET A TUNER. It will help a stock bike, and when you change pipes and or air cleaner, you're ready for it.

Can you run without a tuner? Yes.

Will you blow your engine up running without a tuner? Probably not.

Can you expect to get 50,000 miles out of your engine without a tuner? Most likely.

Will it run correctly without a tuner? No.

Dealers and their parts and service departments are a business, in business to sell motorcycles, and motorcycle parts and accessories. They tell you that you can get away without a tuner, because a LOT of guys won't come off the jack for a tuner, and they're afraid they'll lose sales if they tell you to get a tuner.

Changing the air flow without changing the VE tables is not beneficial. These bikes run lean from the factory, adding a more free flowing exhaust makes them run more lean.

Do what you want, I won't criticize, just trying to offer things to think about.

...but there is a reason I won't buy a used bike as my primary ride...
