Default Matching paint

How do we match paint colors on our bikes? Are the colors proprietary or are they listed in a color chart at a good automotive paint supply?

I'm probably on the edge of chroming out the front end and I really like the CVO Street Glide theme of color matching the cow bells and the lower faring gizmo that is now chrome. I just need to get the paint, Amber Whiskey.

Any thoughts on this??

Man, that would be great. I looked around on the 'net and never saw any reference to a colored fairing gizmo, only chrome. Next time I'm at the dealer I'll hit 'em up on that one.

Thanks for the hint...

EDIT:
Ha. Check this out from a recent thread about a 2015Street Glide Special...Factory painted gizmo, just like you said. Problem solved.

I have a 2014 FLHP. My local dealer contacted HD to try and get a quart (smallest amount available) for my bike. It is no longer available... yet supposedly I could buy my tourpak painted or unpainted. Go figure...

It took quite a while for me to find out what the >name< of my colors were... much less get a paint code. Colorrite says that they have a matching color... but seriously, I doubt that anything will match perfectly. Since my tourpak will be somewhat separated from the bike I don't mind if it is a little off.

Anyway, getting HD's name of your paint color is important.

Default HD paint

I needed to get some parts painted to match my '08 SG a few years ago. The paint was a "tri-color" Crimson Red Sunglow. I had an experienced and recommended painter swear that he could match it so I went with him. The paint was not even close. It turned out that he did not use HD paint. After getting my money back I took the parts to another painter. He told me that you must use HD paint or it will never match. The parts came out perfect and the match was dead on.
