If you have never sat behind one at 80mph on a windy day, you can not truly appreciate them. Its pretty much indescribable. I used to think the shark front an incredibly ugly hunk a plastic hanging on a bike, I have to admit after owning it now I look at it like a curvy sexy tall high class hooker in a tight elegant black dress, pearls, 5 inch heels with an *** that would make a dead man....you get the idea. But my wife was totally used to the easy chair ride of an ultra back seat. So I looked at tour packs and brackets, then there would have to be speakers ect ect ect. By the time I added all this up, I was way past the price of a new limited. Then the 16 RG Ultra arrived! I stuck my wife on the back of one for a test ride, and she pulled the trigger! I love this bike and I love that woman. I also gotta say I used to think between the 88 TC I was riding and the new stock 103's there really did not seem like that much difference. Yes the 103 had more power obviously and better low end torque, but my 88 did ok. Well let me tell ya, between that 88 TC and this 103 HO water cooled the difference is amazing. Between 50 to 80 mph through 4 and 5th gear the roll on on this bike is frickin breath taking. Pop her into 6th and cruise down the highway at 80 mph running with Florida interstate traffic, your running 2100 RPM's. Putting at 80, my wet dream! Oh and yes I went with that really cool New Harley vivid black color. my budget had already been hammered to smithereens! At this point yes pennies mattered! Besides that none of the other colors really grabbed me.
My 15 Ultra at 75mph is running about 3100 rpm....wondering if this was a typo. There is nothing I hate about my Rushmore. It rides in all ways better than my 11 RK did and the Rk rode better than my Dynas did. Sure there are things I would change if I could but it's like any other thing in life. Take the good with the not so good and ride on.

Has to be a typo. My RK is the same, 3100 at 75mph.

What is there to hate, I love the power of the 103 motor, highway cruising with the cruise control is a must have, and the classic look of a Road King is timeless. The only issue I had was that damn ticking sound but took care of that with rocker lockers. Now she purrs like a well oiled sewing machine.

My new 15 FLHTP is by far the smoothest harley I have ever ridden. No they are not going to ride or sound like an 'old" harley. it's a different machine. I put on a set of 3 1/2 Rush slip ons with a 2.25" baffle and now she sounds good too. No mods wanted or needed

I must admit I'm likin those new RGs tho. I like that fixed fairing.

I can tell you that given a choice between a frame mounted fairing (like the RG) or a fork mounted fairing, I'll take the frame mounted any day. I'm sure that there are reasons that others may like fork mounted, but I'll never go back.

Was raised that there is no other fairing than a batwing until I laid my eyes on the new RG. That is all it took and down town I went to get one. Pretty much now think that the batwing is old school and old stuff.

bought my first Harley in 1980 and never looked back, had various models over the years but when I bought my first roadking in 2005 I was hooked and never expected to own anything else, decided to sell it in 2013 (got married and moved from texas to Illinois), in 2015 I looked at the roadkings and bought the rushmore streetglide special instead, the frame, the brakes and sound system are so much different that I found my new best ride for a few years anyway. If you haven't ridden one, take one for a test ride, they are freakin' awesome.

30 years of riding Harley's. Usually keep them 10+ years. I was very enticed by the Rushmore's when they came out, and I traded a 2012 Ultra Classic for a 2015. (Figured I'd give them a year to work the bugs out).

I'd do it all over again in a minute.

It is simply the best Harley Davidson Motorcycle I have ever owned or ridden. No regrets whatsoever.
