I have drilled a hole and put a set screw in one on my antennas.
A star washer would be easier.
Drilling a hole and pinning the antenna would be hard, but would not ruin the radio. The antenna stub on the HD is the transmitting part. The grounding part is inside of the tourpack. So you actually would not be shorting it out. KD8PTJ

HD did a warranty replacement on the antenna and the mounting stud....even though I am outside of the 2 year warranty. They said since it happened once before they would be replacing it with no problem. They did blue Loctite the set screw into the mounting stud this time. Good as new now!!
