I never broke the banjo or top plate, so I figured I got excess fluid past the gasket from moving it all around to squeeze it between the forks and get the lines rerouted. I stood the bike upright, removed the MC cap and douched it with alcohol and wiped it clean. Did the same with the gasket. The gasket had fluid on it right under the cap; I was glad to see this because it confirmed my suspicions. I wiped the rim of the resivoir well and then put it all back together, torquing down to the manual specified 12-15 in lbs. Been fine ever since.

Keep an eye on your master cylinders once you get them back on. I had to squeeze them between the fork and the frame to get enough slack on the lines. After I got everything bolted up and went on a few rides I noticed droplets around the brake MC. I wiped it up with a cloth and it was yellow; brake fluid. It happened a few more times after that.

I ended up getting a set of Yaffe 10-inchers for Black Friday ... I'll be attempting to do this install after their arrival; I'll take extra heed with the Master Cylinders!
