Thought you were out of this thread?

I use a Garmin LM50 in my work truck. Update it as soon as they're available. Guess what,,, there's still 3 year old roads that are not in the new maps.

Bottom line, if you don't want the map updates, don't buy them.

Yes, you can buy a Garmin and have it work just fine.
Those are stand alone units though.

The truth is, very few (if any) automobile manufacturers give free map updates for their "built in" systems.

I know both Ford and Chevy both charge for map updates.
They are priced about the same as the ones for HD.

And guess what?
In most cases, the maps are just as old.
The Camaro still has the same map as it had when Nav became available in 2013.

So, this isn't just an HD thing.

Not trying to pick HD out of the crowd just saying it's shame what HD and all of the other vehicle manufacturers charge to update their gps maps. Maybe that will change one day like operating software for computers. Apple use to charge for updating operating software, now they don't.

Just an FYI since people were talking about other nav systems, I just updated my 2014 Cadillac and they are 2016 maps.

I'm running 2014 Ultra with the latest upgrade. Installed 3 months ago, and ever since the system defaults from USB to FM when the bike is turned off. Local dealer got HD to replace, but HD sent "refurbed" unit that thinks it has a CB on it. HD tech service will only say that this is the correct operation. Found another dealer who tried to get ticket escalated and a "new" factory unit, but HD refused. Can I be the only one with this issue?? It's a 4.3 version...

No mine dose this to, before i updated. FYI updated yesterday... it seem okay now.I haven't been out riding its raining but keep going out and turning it on so far usb coms on....

but that said this thing (boom) is sketchy one time it would not shut off when i turned the bike off among other gremlins I've noticed

Off topic could be related I pulled a code the other day stated to change instrument cluster but that seem to be working so i cleared the code if it comes back ill take it to dealer (warranty)
