After 17K miles learned a new trick mine was turned off for some reason try turning it on while bike was running using throttle but no luck had to wait till stopped. I'll give it try next time Thanks.
Did you find a way to get the joy stick to change the idle temp command, I was unable to do it on my 6.5 boom system. I have software version 1.19.1.

My bike is also a 2016.

That's incorrect info there is no option on scrolling down on 6.5" on that particular screen.

The only thing I can do with the joy stick is exit that screen which is the command at the top right on that screen. I have 1.19.1 software version do you have a different version?
I guess I wasn't very clear. When in the Info Screen I still roll throttle backwards to toggle on/off. The results are displayed on the Info screen.

I just rolled my throttle forward for about three seconds when I was sitting at a stoplight, and it went off. There's another thread that talks about whether the EIMTS even helps cool the motor. I guess a manual somewhere says it was designed for rider comfort. Anyway, I leave mine off all the time.

Our Limiteds don't change while motor running are you sure it can be done at the stop light while bike is running.

That is not true, I change mine while the bike is running at a stop light. It does not work if you just twist the grip forward once, you might have to do it two or three times but it does work to turn the idle feature on or off while the bike is running and in neutral.

I leave mine off unless I get caught in stop and go traffic where I am sitting for long periods or just creeping forward. I turn it on and off while the engine is running and the transmission is in neutral while stopped in traffic.

It does help with rider comfort to turn off that back cylinder when stuck in stop and go traffic.
