Well the new cover is on. I measured the depth of it on the bench before I installed it but forgot to write the figure down and now I can't remember what it was - the original measures at 3-1/4" deep. The new derby cover is a 1/2" larger diameter so there's no way they will interchange but it does still use the usual orange rubber gasket. The photo of the upside down covers is the old (smaller) cover sitting top of the new narrow cover. Installation was easy, removed both boards (only two bolts each) for easy access and that was all that needed to be done other than loosening the screws. I had a new foamet type Cometic gasket on hand but the old one looked in great shape so I reused it for now and no leak so far. You can see how much closer the pressure plate bolts are but the new narrow derby cover is more domed than the original so it does compensate. Filled with 45oz of Amsoil Primary fluid, the level comes up to about 1/16" of the edge with the bike level. The funnel still fits but seems to take longer to fill than before since the cover fits so close. The shot of the Black and chrome looks good I think - I pulled the covers on the other side to get powder coated to match.

Oh - the hole in the new cover is larger and pretty much centered over the clutch pack - you could remove the bolts but it doesn't look like you could get anything else out of the hole - not even the spring I think so pulling the whole outer cover is still needed to service the clutch.
