I've had it for a number of years. now, with the new blind spot sensors (radars) the older models give you a false alert thats kind of random, not steady like approaching radar. i know you can get them upgraded but i think it was still quite a bit.
Depends on distance between laser unit & target. The further away the target is the wider the laser beam width becomes.
Several days ago I was crossing a causeway bridge in Vero Beach. On the far end about a half mile away a Vero cop had his laser on targeting any vehicle who's headlights he'd see coming over the bridge. I was on my Road Glide around midnight and the only vehicle on the bridge. I got the laser alert before I crested the high point of the bridge with enough time to slow down to within the speed limit. I was even able to see his green laser light in th dark as I got closer.

I waved at him & he waved back as I passed him, then I posted his hidden position on Waze.

This is my upcoming winter project. Have not seen any other posts about this subject yet. I'm Looking at a remote radar to fit under the fairing and build the display into the CB panel (left side). I have a 3rd party amplifier and will build a switching circuit to allow the sound through the speakers. I would love to have the radar volume match the bikes AVC. Share your volume ideas when you get something you like.

That will only work if you leave your radio turned on to the aux input and not radio. On my old bike, I had a Zumo 665. I added a 2 way plug and since I listened to XM the majority of time, I got the buzz over that. But, if I was listening to the radio, I got nothing.

I have thought about finding a way to add it to boom so that it will work no mater what I'm listening to but have not gotten that far.

Any update on your goal of getting the Valentine One alerts to sound through your bike's speakers? I have my V1 mounted just above and to the left of the right hand mirror (see attached pic) and it works great in that location. The problem is that the visual alerts are not within my normal line of sight and I can't hear the audio alerts at freeway speeds using a full face helmet. I like the idea of running a 3.5mm aux cable from the V1 to the Boom radio and having the sound come through the bike's speakers. I'm not concerned about having to use the Aux input for normal radio since I use bluetooth speakers in my helmet to stream music and GPS/Waze directions from my phone.

I installed the valentine remote inside the glove box with the 3.5mm plug. I use a FF helmet with bluetooth connected to my phone, and have the radar alerts come

through my aux. you can hear it at 85 no problem.

audio remote inside jukebox.

I can't remembers seeing any motorcycle pulled over by the law in over 10 years probably more than 20 to be honest. I use the 5 over rule for cage and the bike.

Do you need to have the Valentine remote for the alerts to come through to the bike's speakers?

I think so. the main units do not have a headphone jack.

Pardon my ignorance with Radar detectors and such but what happens when LEO notices that you've got a unit or at the very least an indicator display mounted on your bike. Does it go by jurisdiction as to whether it is legal to use one.

If your bike has a lot metallic in the paint it will screw with the effectiveness . I mounted mine with a handle bar mount on my 2014 Limited.. Just upgraded to a 2016 CVO Roadglide and need to figure it out all over again. would not ride without one. I use an Escort Redline.
We take long trips every year and try to limit trip wreckers. This year Ma. to SD then down to ride Pikes Peak. and back home.
