Default Ride quality loss switching to lowered suspension

Ok this is what is on my mind. I had an 06 ultra that back then I didn't hesitate to get the shorter rear shocks and front spring kits. I wanted it to look cool. Now several years fast forward and after driving a 2015 limited I bought it. I love how it handles but I still like the lowered look and how it feels sitting on say a 2015 low. I myself am not a small guy. I am a 6 foot built 300 pound boy. With all that being said has anyone with an ultra swap out suspension for a low? Or have a thought on how much ride quality I would loose? If the major ride quality of my 06 was effected by just lowering it I will probably try a different approach.

Can you get a demo ride on a Limited or Ultra Low ? You can't install shorter shocks without effecting ride quality, it simply can't be done. The question is how much compromise. I have a 2015 Ultra Low. I weigh 215lbs, have my rear shock set at 6 turns from zero and I have no problems at all. The ride is great and I've never bottomed out, even riding two up. But ride is subjective. You might not think it's great. Best bet would be if you could get your hands on a Low during demo days and spend enough time experimenting with settings. Many say the Low's ride is harsh. It is going to be harher, it has less travel. But it can be dialled in to be "acceptable". I wouldn't change mine a bit, but I don't expect it to perform like a longer shock.

I am currently "pulling the trigger" on this. I am "tippy toed" at stops, and feel the need to lower the entire bike. I did switch out seats, but that did not work out. Bike is going in the Shop the end of this month (winter storage - ya, I know...... ), and some of the mods include:

1) Premium Ride Hand-Adjustable Touring Shocks – Low Profile. 54680-10

2) Profile Low Touring Front Lowering Kit. 54564-09

3) Narrow-Profile Outer Primary Cover. 25700385

I am hoping this will lower me enough - at least a good 1"+. A buddy of mine did this, and said it rode a little "stiffer" (probably due to the fact he went from 13" rear shocks to 12" rear shocks, so less "travel"), but overall he was exceptionally pleased. It also looks "pretty cool" lowered......... Not really after the "look", but more for functionality in my case.

Hi guys, I got tired of trying the Harley air shocks and the premium ride shocks on my 14 limited. I to like a lower bike because I'm 5'8 with a 30" inseam. The Harley shocks are JUNK!!!...after a lot of research I pulled the trigger on a set of SuperShox and couldn't be happier. Easy to adjust, 30 day money back guarantee, lowers the bike approx. 1" and still has 3"s of travel. Nothing to lose, give them a try! Good Luck.

Do you have a price on the shocks?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Went on their website, and no pricing....

I have been reading about progressive Suspensions too. They have the 944 rear shocks and a new drop in monotube shock for the front. Anyone have expereince with progressive on a 14 SG?

I wonder if that is really true. I know lowering will affect shock travel, but if you don't bottom out does the ride quality suffer?

I've been looking at this for a different reason. My wife is considering a new HD softail, she's looked at both the Deluxe & the Heritage. She's leaning toward the Heritage. It sits higher than the Deluxe which (I assume) has HD's Profile Low shocks installed, & we'd want to lower a Heritage to at least that much. I'm wondering what affect that would have on the ride.
