You have got to look over the bike and put a quality kit together. One thing a started carrying was a battery charger/jump starter. Lil Lightning, about the size of a large smart phone but about a half inch thick. Will charge your phone or almost electrical device you have, as well as jump start your bike.

I did this because on a ferry crossing a guy on street glide forgot to turn his ignition off, kill switch but never turned the ignition off. His bike started but another 10 or 15 minutes, might not of. There are several different ones available and not too expensive.

The tool does have the allen for the trans fill though thank goodness... Never know when those just come off

Seriously though, not much on that dinky tool kit.
Nothing for plugs, rear axle, a/c, shift linkage, you know, stuff you might need on the side of the road. The old kit had at least those things. Too bad.
Mine was more than hand tight. Besides which, not sure why one would need to take the cover off on a trip ?

To clean all the oil out of the air filter at a hotel while on a 5K trip?
To tighten the bolt if it went loose from vibration? (saw this happen 2 times to complete strangers)
To install a kick-*** filter you just bought at Sturgis?
To check your breather tubes because when you pull the oil dip stick compressed air rushes out?

You work for the accounting department at Harley? Just wondering. If so, you screwed up.
You didn't take it out of kit because it wasn't useful or to save weight. You took it out because it costs you 10 cents. Thanks for that.

All of this is crazy. I have just shy of 8k on my FLHTKL and no issues.

lol Don't work for the mo co. for starters. My air box is stock. Thankfully, I've never had the issues some seem to have and until 2010 rode all over the country. Health issues put a stop to that. Trust me, driving a cage to the Dragon sucks. At 70 I simply consider myself fortunate to still be on two wheels and I know from my last visit to the bone specialist a trike is in my very near future if I wish to keep riding.

Harley must of changed something in the kit... the toolkit that came with my bike has the wrench that fits the shifter levers. I think its a pretty good basic multi-tool.

Did the same thing a few years ago but went to Harbor Freight, where they sell throw away tools. About 1/4 the cost of Sears......yeah, Craftsman not the Sears brand, are guaranteed for life but not for loss.

I've picked up over the years several of the roll-up tool kits that Harley use to put with the bikes at swap meets. Granted most were missing the 8in1 screwdriver but the bags themselves are handy for tools.

Loctite the allen blade kits together too or in no time you'll have a
mess of little plastic washers and allens all through your tool kit.

The tool kit so to speak changed between the '14 and '15 evidently. The one that came in my '14 SG was a pos compared to the one that came with the '15 FLHTKL.
