The Chrysler hack is really bad because they could disable the brakes remotely. As far as I know the Boom Infotainment doesn't have wifi or cell data connections, so only vector would be Bluetooth or USB which would mean hack would need to be performed fairly close or even directly connected. Worst thing I guess they could mess with is ABS brakes, but I would be surprised if the brake system failed to work if ABS module didn't work, that would be a horrible safety design.

I'd like to know more about security of the FP3, since that has direct CANBUS too, and I leave mine plugged in on the bike. Seems like anyone with a phone and the V&H FP3 app could connect to mine and change my throttle to race mode or mess with engine settings?

FWIW, Before everyone screams that the sky is falling, just realize that this affects Chrysler vehicles with UConnect (a form of wifi capability) which HD doesn't (and hopefully never will) have. Your Blutooth connection to your phone has some security risk to maybe get your address book etc, but doesn't pose a threat to someone taking over your bike.....would be very impressive if it did though. The range on the blutooth device can sometimes be throttled back on newer devices similar to WiFi range and remember that your bike must be in "discovery" mode for it to connect to anything other than the devices you've already set up.

Regarding Bluetooth range, the specs may say one thing, but I have experienced syncing at a greater distance.

I was at a pull-out on the Cherohala Skyway and accidently set my phone down while someone was taking a pic of me and my wife. I forgot about the phone and rode off. My XM was cutting out because of the trees so I switched over to stream from my iPhone and it worked just fine. About 10 or 15 minutes, my iPhone music started intermittently cutting out. I was thinking, WTF, the phone is only 3 feet away and I could see it was synced. Figured I would see what was up with that later and switched back to XM. Wasn't until we were back at our room that I noticed I didn't have my phone. My wife called my number and some woman answered it. They had picked it up off the ledge AFTER WE LEFT and took it with them so they could try to return it to us. Somehow as they continued up the road the same direction as us I was able to keep synced to my phone. In the end they mailed it ahead of us to our next destination. If my phone hadn't synced, I would have turned around and went back for it, LOL!
