Default Tahoe report with pics

Just got back from a week long trip to Tahoe. I'd never been to the area before and it certainly was as beautiful as advertised but also predictably crowded. The Lake loop was lots of fun on the east side, but the west side was really clogged up with construction. Also since there was a fire burning south of the lake our riding was mostly limited to the north side, but we were staying there anyway so that was OK. Highlights of the trip were Mt. Lassen on the way down, Hwy 431 over Mt. Rose Summit and Virgnia City.

The weather was great, the bike ran great and the company was great. We stayed in a condo with a garage for the bikes within walking distance of a brew pub and 3 casinos. I'm planning next summer's adventure already.

Lassen National Park.

Summit Lassen Park.

Home sweet home.

Around the lake.

Down to first.

Baggers by the lake.

Virginia City.

Mt. Rose summit.

Nice!

I love that area...never did that route on a MC...sure would like to soon.

During a trip to Reno rented a car and drove that area in October...not many folks around that time of year. Virginia City is the best.

Ever do that Oregon Outback on your bike?

Yes parts of SE Oregon. Prefer the cascades or the coast though.

Awesome. I just got here this weekend and have been bopping around checking it out. I'm in the cage though because I packed bicycles and fishing gear and whatnot. It's pretty crowded - don't know if I'll make it the whole week, but I am really happy I came.

Wow - absolutely beautiful.

Great pictures - thanks for sharing. My favorite it the 10 mph curve. Bet that was really nice. I hope to do that one day, When is the best time of the year?

We live in Michigan - so, maybe we can tow the bike there and do some riding.

I think on a normal year July would probably be the best month weatherwise since the altitude at the lake is somewhere around 6000', but the later in the year you go the greater the chance of fires. I went a little earlier this year because we are experiencing a very early hot summer out west. There was a fire south of the lake, but the air was still pretty clear. Riding through the heat and smoke in fire season can be a drag.

I'm certainly not an expert on the area though since this was my first trip there.

Go Ducks, You are welcome to come back any time. There is a lots of good riding in the Reno Tahoe area.
If you are in our neck of the woods check out the Bar of America in Truckee, or Ride to the oldest town in Nevada Genoa.
My Son and I rode our Bikes up to Crater Lake and Gold lake last year, had a great time the three days we were there.
