Default Highway pegs best location?

Is there a "proper" location to mount highway pegs to the engine guard, or is it free-for-all? Never had them before, and they should be here tomorrow...

It's a where do they feel the most comfortable for you when riding.

Pure personal choice. I just put mine on and tightened them enough where I could move it around. When I found a comfortable position I tightened it and haven't changed it since.
Here is mine:

Like the others have said it is trial and error. I used a wheel chock to get the bike upright then adjusted from there.

I like them up high. It's like riding in a lazy boy with the recliner up.

The only thing that has had any other effect on the location of mine is that I have the Daymaker fog lamps also mounted on the same bars. Just had to work around those.

Depends on how you sit, length of your legs, etc. I have mine down as far down as they'll go on the engine guard and angled inwards to match my foot angle. Perfect for me. And it depends which highway peg mount you use too.

I've positioned mine so that I can rest my heel on the floor board and my toes on the foot peg. This give me 3 foot positions: feet on floor boards, feet on pegs, and heel on floor board-toes on foot pegs.

I have the Kuriakan (sp) long horns and they are a good quality peg with several adjustments that you can really customize to your sitting position.

I've adjusted mine the same as tgc.

I stretch out about 25% of the time, but find resting my heel on the floor board and toes/ball of foot on the pegs about 75% of the time is natural and comfortable, just insure you don't set them for any conflict with brake or shifter.

Install them snug enough to hold their place and then adjust them for your style, comfort.

After setting their position, go back and torque them down.
