Default Looking at a Mustang Summit...does heated really make a difference???

After seeing some talk here about the Mustang Summit seat, I have become interested in it. Looks like a really nice seat and has gotten good reviews.

BUT...wondering if spending the extra $$$ is worth it for the heated seat. Does it really make a difference when it is cold out.

Thanks.

I have a Corbin Classic Solo with heat.
It does warm the part you sit on and also the blood going to your legs/ feet.
So yes for me it was worth the extra cost. For others maybe not.

I have the heated hammock, the heat is a nice feature.

How much cold weather riding do you do in IL? In CO, besides riding during the winter months, it can get chilly in the mountains, especially in bad weather. I had seat heaters added by Mean City Cycles and I personally think it was money well spent.

Sounds like a good idea to buy. In IL, it seems to be cold a lot. Right now it is 59 out. Seems like it would be nice to have for nights like tonite.

Thanks for the replies.

I ride my bike just about any time the streets are dry. I don't have heated seat or grips. And with not having a batwing fairing, my hands are exposed to the wind. I've ridden good distances with temps in the teens. At those temps, I usually wear polypropylene thermals, jeans, shirt (usually a t-shirt), leather jacket, leather chaps, leather gauntlet gloves with a thin liner, and usually a balaclava or face mask (but sometimes wear a full face helmet), and a knit stocking cap over my skull cap. Not especially bulky. But with that clothing, the only thing that gets cold is my fingers. And I have a fix for that. So for me, the cost wouldn't be worth it. With temps above freezing, I usually leave off the balaclava and thermal underwear and still be comfortable.

Having a heated seat is great!
Its one of those things that you don't think you need until you have it.
After that you would not go back to riding in cold weather without it.

It's the same with heated grips.

I agree 100%. Now that I have it, I wouldn't be without it. It's great on cool to cold days just like the heated grips are.

If you want to stay warm I would spend the money on a "heated jacket liner". If your core is warm so are you. Best money I EVER spent on ANY item for my bike.

+1 for Diannes. I have a heated seat on one bike, and it is ok. However, a heated vest makes a much bigger difference for me. I don't ride in Canada cold, but regularly ride in the teens and 20's and a heated vest and grips make it very comfortable.
