5000 mile service... really??
Coming up on 5000 miles, so I called the dealer to get price/appointment. I hung up the phone after getting the price. $340 with synthetic oil
Seems like all they are doing in changing the oil/filter and checking over the bike. I'm pretty sure I can do what's on the checklist myself.
Any reason I shouldn't?

350 for a b service....that s half what we charge for that service. that included the brake flush and fill, cabin dust filter, air filter etc...350 is a bargain....

Well...coming up on 16K miles and it's never been in for service. All has been done by me, myself and I. It ain't brain surgery, go over the list they provide and go for it yourself. Buy a FACTORY service manual.
You can buy lots of gas for $340 and if you've ever pulled a drain plug, it's no different on a Harley.

oh, btw....if anyone is here in south florida, i get all my service done at v-twin city....their prices are awesome, and the techs are top notch... i think i paid $190 for my 15k service on my old bike
check that...i think the 15k service was a little more...mid 200's or so....either way they are like 1/2 the price of the local stealers

Don't think i'll need to buy any tools (already have 2 torque wrenches). I have sleds, so working on stuff is a requirement. I don't have the shop manual... only the owners manual and a list I found online for 5K service.
What they were charging (seems standard across dealers) for 5k service is crazy. No other fluid is changed - especially since I had them do the 1000 mile service (had a coupon for that).
Where do you buy the shop manual?
