Default Boom & Amp Upgrade Install on 2015 Ultra Limited

I have been reading a lot of posts comparing Hogtunes 4 Speaker / Amp kit vs Harley's Boom / Amp kit #76000411. I'm leaning towards the Harley kit. Has anyone installed this kit on their scooter? The dealer wants about 4 hours to install...has me a little concerned. I know the flash is about 1/2 hour. Hogtunes online instructions make their install sound pretty straight forward.

I cant seem to find directions online, so I called my local dealer to see if there are install directions in the box. THERE ARE NONE. So, I guess you need to have this installed by the dealer.

Your posts are confusing. Are you going with the HD Boom Stage 1 or 2 upgrade, or the Hogtunes? Hogtunes you would have to install yourself. I don't think a HD dealer would even touch this, as it's an aftermarket kit. The HD Boom upgrade they could install since it's a HD kit. However, if you spend enough time here reading these forums, epsecially the audio thread, you will see that most people tend to shy away from the Boom upgrades. They are expensive and not as good a sound quality as many of the aftermarket stuff out there. I'm going with the RF PBR300x2 amps and Infinity Kappa speakers on my bike.

Not sure where you've been reading. I haven't seen anyone recommend Hogtunes, or anything HD makes. Fosgate, Kappas, or Biketronics.

Unfortunately, like several people that work at dealers, yours is wrong. There are definitely instructions in the box. Harley always includes instructions, now sometimes these instructions are wrong, but they are in the box. Believe this, if there were no instructions in the box, the dealer could not even come close to installing the system.

I had hogtunes 4 speakers and 40w amp on My 2012 Limited.Had to play loud to have good quality.Hissed at low volume. I have Boom on My 2014 and I am very happy with the sound quality.I have read that Boom1 and boom2 have speaker failure issues.

I had the boom speaker and amp upgrade done to my 15 Limited. It sounded pretty good. I had the dealer do it. I think 3-4 hours sounds right. They have to remove and replace 4 speakers, Break open the fairing and mount the amp, they are some aditional wires that get installed behind the seat, then do the download. Could they do it faster ??? Probably but then you would complain when they scratched your paint. It is what it is. You could do it but I bet you wouldn't get it done in 4 hours.
I'm not an audiophile. Guys take about these really great systems....Is there a special device that filters out wind and road noise while you are running down the road at 70 ?? kinda like putting blue on black.

I am very pleased with my Boom! system. Sound quality is amazing to my damaged ears.

I had the Boom upgraded to Stage 1 shortly after I purchased my limited. The clarity and overall sound is better. There are times when I use the helmet speakers on long distances but when I switch it back to the bike speakers it sure is nice.
