I believe you are inadvertently having the throttle go past zero (turning backwards) when hitting the rough bump. That is the way you disengage the cruise without touching your brakes.
Ride with a relaxed grip on the throttle.
I have hit a few bumps that have caused the cruise to turn off. Most of the time my right hand isn't on the bars, but I can see that you could be rolling forward with a bump. I think that its is a traction thing also. the RPM jumps enough to say "wait... something isn't right..." and it shuts off...

Maybe...?
I installed the cruise on the 05 Glide myself. The next day while on the interstate, it cut out, I assumed there was an issue with my install, but couldn't find anything.
Then it happened again a week later. That time I realized the bumps might be the cause. After that, the only time the cruise would cutout was on bumps.
Its normal. Doesn't have anything to do with the throttle position. Mine does it without rolling the grip at all.
I was thinking some sort of switch that sensed abnormal movement, maybe if the bike was on its side the cruise would turn off, the service manual does not show that wiring, or just not seeing it?
