The plug under the right grip end cap is the first place to look. Just pop the end cap off to check. If the plug has shaken loose from its socket, it takes out both heated grips. Easy fix. Just push it in firmly. There is no "click", but you can feel a very slight friction catch when the plug seats.
At least for me, my guess is that my plug was never properly seated during installation. Both grips stopped working at about 4,000 miles. I took it in to the dealer to have them check it. They solved the problem and told me about the loose plug scenario. I've run another 21,000 miles with no problem.
