Dropped my bike off a the dealer today for them to try to find the source of a pretty bad knocking sound. The sound started last week and got worse. I really couldn't tell where it was coming from. The tone of the sound is too deep to be a valve tapping. The frequency of the knock changes with engine speed. I'm hoping it's something simple that I just couldn't find. The head technician is supposed to work on it tomorrow and call me with what he finds.

 

A 1014? That is a bit too old for the mechanic!

 

But it would sure be worth some money

Just put mine in shop yesterday knocking also called the dealer i bought the bike from they told me they could not look at the bike "untill may 28 th" a month from now.Ended up taking it to a dealer 50 miles away waiting for a call now to find out the problem 17000 miles on 14 street glide .

 

Anything is a possibility but I really don't think it's bad gas. I hate to say it, but it sounds like a rod knocking. I'm just glad it's under warranty so they'll take care of it. I've got a great dealer and I know they'll take care of me.

 

thinking mine is a rod knocking also .I hope not can't think of much else to be knocking the way this sounds.

 

A fleeting hope . . . I suppose the good news might be he could get a new engine?

Mine has just shy of 12K miles on it. The only other thing I could think of would be loose or broken motor mounts to sound the way it does.

 

Could be the Compensator making the noise..Have seen them go as early as 10k miles on bikes..
