Default FP3 without upgraded A/C?

Basically, the question is this - does a stage 1 A/C make enough of a difference that a standard map from V&H matched to my slip-ons will run too rich outside of narrow-band O2 auto-tune adjustments possible? They don't seem to have any standard maps without an upgraded A/C, and an online chat was not very productive...

I'm just trying to get some nice Harley sound right now, before I spend the big bucks next year at bonus time for full tune, exhaust, etc....

A completely stock bike will benefit from the FP3.

I know that a stock bike will benefit from a richer tune, but this is specifically about using a map for an upgraded A/C with a stock filter. Will I be running too rich?

Start there, do a few auto-tune runs, call it good.

No sweat. You'll be just fine.

I emailed vance and hines with that same question. Here is the reply they sent:

"It will automatically compensate for the stock intake within the first tank or so. Once you get a high flow, then reflash the same map and this will clear the adaptive fuel values for proper operation with your high flow air filter.

I hope this helps. I'm assuming that he's implying to run an auto tune after flashing and it will adjust accordingly. But everyone knows what happens when people assume

Well, here's the problem though - the auto-tune only works with the closed-loop - narrow-band O2 sensors. At WOT, you have to rely on the pre-programmed map, with no adjustment. I'm just wondering, on a '15 RK, how much more air can a stage 1 A/C provide? And will it change the mix to be too rich? ...

So your saying that the auto tune adjust nothing unless it's at WOT? I was under the impression it's reading all the tables and adjusting them at all throttle positions. Also if you search there is a thread going on right now talking about the air flow difference between the stage 1 intake and the stock Rushmore intake if your curious about those numbers.

Well, since the bikes later than 2009 don't use TP for tuning, but rather MAP, I reckon I'm confused.

Mine gathers data at 100MAP....

Granted, I'm not using an FP3, but rather a PV2.

I'm no expert by any means, all I'm trying to do is make sure I don't harm the bike. From what I've learned from v-rod forums, there are narrow-band and wide-band O2 sensors. Narrow band work in closed loop - normal riding mode. Wide-band work in open loop - WOT or close. The bike only has narrow-band O2 sensors. With PV2, if you want wide-band, you have to spend extra on Auto Tune Pro.

The FP3 is designed for the narrow-band O2 sensors. So that shouldn't be an issue I wouldn't think.
