Default Caught in rain now horn sounds like a weak whistle

Riding home from work on my 2015 Limited Low and got caught in a down pour. Bike handled great. Next day on the way to work a car tried to come into my lane. Hit the horn and I was surprised that it was harly auditable. I easily got out of the way, but the horn really let me down.

Harley dealer said they would replace the horn, but gee, I should be able to ride in the rain and depend on the horn working.

Anyone else have this problem?

Is there a permanent fix instead of buying a new horn everytime?

They can be taken off, and drained....

But will never quite be the same.

My next project is air horns.

Maybe MacGyuver ourselves some rain covers for that, stow it in the bags til it's needed?

Mine also died in a rain storm, removed It and drained It, used heat to dry It out, nothing worked , replaced with CD Mini Beast, now that's a horn and I couldn't be happier. Oh yea HD replaced my damaged horn with a new one that I have stored away Incase I trade the bike In the future.

Can you post up a pic of the mini beast on your bike?

My horn was never loud. Odd thing is it never got wet that I am aware of. Maybe I bought a flood bike.

I have not had this happen to my Ultra yet, but I did many times on my 08 RK. Luckily laying on the horn button for up to a minute would blow the water out. I tried to remember after every time I got caught in a down pour to blow the horn for a minute or two when no one was around me. This seemed to work.

On Delaware RT9 along the Delaware River there's a spot where water sits on the road at high tide. One pass through that killed my horn. Covered under warrantee.

Going through that puddle taught me that Harley's do not excel at creek crossings. A lot water comes right up at you instead of all going off to the sides.

I am considering a CD Mini-Beast also, but I like the looks of the stock chrome cover.
