I thought the only way I've cleared it was by turning off the bike for a few minutes. Bluetooth didn't seem to do it.

To test before riding sometimes I'll ask Siri something. If she's ok, I'm good. If she's staticky I have to restart. What a pain.

I have had both the i-phone 5, and now the samsung galaxy 5 active with no static at all. Most people don't even know that i'm on the bike. Sorry your having a bad time because it's a great feature.

When it works it's amazing - I've been 80 MPH and people don't know I'm on a motorcycle. When it fails it fails very badly and is useless. Oh well - at least it seems widespread enough so that I don't need to bother pursuing a warranty issue that my dealer is resisting because they haven't heard the problem.

I always turn my phone off, this is the reason I ride.

Well, that's great for you but doesn't help the issue for those who need to be available and are now able to ride more because of the technology. Or should be able to. Or those who like to listen to music and want to be able to control it via voice commands.

Anyway, this thread is about the problem and others who are having it, not a debate about how we choose to use various features.

Does it happen when the phone is connected via the USB cable? If it only when using Bluetooth, where do you carry your phone?

I'm not sure - I never connect via cable. Probably, though, since phone calls still go via bluetooth, not the cable.

Where do you keep your phone when riding? The reason that I am asking is there are a lot of things that can interfere with a Bluetooth signal. I have had Bluetooth headsets that have had similar issues.

It sits in a RAM mount on my right handlebar. The thing is, music is always perfect via Bluetooth. It's ONLY phone calls and Siri where the ear-splitting screeching sometimes happens. Also, I eliminated the Harley wired headset as part of the problem - it happens when going to the bike's speakers too. And this has been happening with more than one iPhone and every version of the Boom software I've used.

I think it's a BT thing. I got static occasionally when I used my iPhone via BT for music. I've never tried a phone call, so I can't comment on that. Since I went to a dedicated usb thumb drive for music, no static at all.
